ABOUT ME
I am Yasemin, a computational artist-researcher and an Associate Lecturer at the Creative Computing Institute at University of the Arts London.
I have a background in Computer Engineering and an MSc in Creative Computing. In my practice, I explore social and political aspects of coding through interactive, critical software and installation work.
I have experience with various programming paradigms and languages, exploring their intersections with the arts and humanities.
I primarily
use creative coding, digital fabrication, game engines, and microcontrollers in my projects.

Programming Uncertainties reimagines coding as a dynamic, uncertain, and performative practice, challenging the industry’s teleological focus that reduces code to mere functionality. Mesh is an esoteric visual programming language that initially takes the form of a grid. The programmer can disrupt the grid by moving, cutting and isolating the grid lines. Mesh brings dynamism, uncertainty and randomness against deterministic systems with an emergent programming language where instructions can be executed with different patterns. All disruptions made by the programmer alter the grid irreversibly.
The coding experience focuses on the process rather than the output and reframes code as a material with agency rather than a passive tool.
