ABOUT ME
I am Yasemin and I am currently studying MSc Creative Computing at the University of the Arts London.

I’m a computational arts practitioner. I like to explore our complicated relationship with technology, think critically about code and take inspiration from history, particularly ancient artefacts and cultures. By combining history with technology, I aim to challenge linear thinking and nature-culture binaries in my works. I primarily  use creative coding, 3D printing, game engines, and microcontrollers in my projects.

I have also previously worked in exhibition planning as an Assistant Creative Director. More information can be found on our exhibition website

Light installation with Arduino microcontrollers

1 ECHOES
When we visit archaeological sites, it is hard to imagine what kind of life ancient humans had. The ancient site with its stagnant structures witnesses history and cultural transformation. In Echoes, I was inspired by the prehistoric archaeological site called Göbeklitepe situated in modern Turkey. I wanted to reflect on our connection to ancient humans and places with a light installation combined with the 3D-printed reconstructions of Göbeklitepe structures.

2 ANTUHSA

Antuhsa means ‘human being’ in Hittite. Inspired by the visual aspect of the cuneiform script, I wanted to create a work emphasizing human connection through language. We do not think twice about language in our daily lives but it is unique to us and connects us to each other as well as to our origins. I wanted the installation to designate the complicated structures of language and how deeply it is interwoven into our cultures and identities.
